Job description
The Architectural Engineer role at du is responsible for designing, executing, and delivering architectural and interior design projects within defined cost, timeline, and quality requirements. The position focuses on developing conceptual layouts, perspective views, and visual schemes using AutoCAD, CAD, Revit, BIM, and other 3D design software for various projects, particularly retail shops and corporate offices. The role ensures compliance with business requirements, creative design principles, space planning standards, local authoritiesā regulations, du internal regulations, and HSSE standards. The Architectural Engineer coordinates extensively with internal stakeholders such as business units, MEP, FM, Operations, Technology, IT, and Branding, as well as external stakeholders including design consultants, contractors, vendors, and local authorities. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering tender documents, architectural drawings, and BOQs, acquiring all necessary approvals, participating in value engineering exercises, conducting site visits for technical evaluation and inspection, maintaining project databases and standard construction details, reviewing shop drawings and materials for contract compliance, and managing projects from initiation through close-out including site supervision. The role also supports business units by developing proposals to enhance work environments and workplace wellbeing within retail and corporate facilities in alignment with organizational standards.

Key responsibilities
- Design architectural and interior projects and ensure successful execution and delivery within cost, timeline, and quality requirements
- Develop design concepts, layouts, and visual schemes using AutoCAD, CAD, Revit, BIM, and other 3D design software while complying with business requirements, local authoritiesā regulations, du internal regulations, and HSSE standards
- Ensure design delivery aligns with retail business plans, organizational standards, and agreed timelines
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including business units, MEP, FM, Operations, Technology, IT, and Branding to integrate all required inputs into designs
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including design consultants, contractors, vendors, and local authorities throughout project lifecycles
- Acquire all required internal and external approvals for architectural projects
- Prepare and deliver tender documents including architectural drawings and bills of quantities
- Support business units by developing architectural and interior proposals that enhance work environment quality and wellbeing
- Conduct site visits to proposed project locations and contractor facilities for technical evaluation and work inspection
- Participate in value engineering exercises by proposing alternative materials that meet quality and budget requirements
- Maintain databases of project records and standard construction details for reference and future development
- Review shop drawings, specifications, and construction materials submitted by consultants and contractors to ensure contractual compliance and report discrepancies
- Manage projects from initiation to close-out stages including on-site supervision
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās degree in Architecture or Interior Design
- Possess a Masterās degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering Management as an added advantage
- Have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience with at least 3 years as an interior designer in retail shops and corporate offices
- Demonstrate experience in digital or telecom company environments as a plus
- Exhibit knowledge of architectural and interior design principles, techniques, and space planning
- Demonstrate knowledge of building materials and construction methods
- Possess working knowledge of CAD, Revit, BIM, and similar architectural design software
- Demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
- Have basic knowledge of local authoritiesā regulatory requirements
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering principles related to building design and cost considerations
- Show skill in drafting 2D and 3D architectural drawings
- Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Be eligible as a UAE National as required for the role
