Job description
Mott MacDonald needs someone who can hold both the technical and managerial sides of a structural project at once, and that combination is exactly what this Senior Structural Engineer role covers across a variety of built environment projects. You prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes, securing statutory approvals wherever they're needed. Project management and team leadership run through the preparation of concept, scheme and detailed design work, with structural engineering analysis and design led directly by this role. Site inspections check that work carried out matches the design and meets quality standards, and accountability for timely, reliable design output sits squarely here. Junior engineers and technicians get mentored along the way, with knowledge shared as part of the day to day rhythm of the team. Task and resource management stay monitored against agreed scope, programme and budget, keeping projects on track from multiple angles at once. Technical aspects of a project get presented to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating engineering detail into something everyone in the room can follow. Analytical software like Etabs, Safe, Staad, Robot and Tekla Tedds sits alongside BIM tools such as Navisworks and Revit as the daily toolkit for getting the work done.
