Job description
Full Field simulation models in Eclipse and Intersect drive development decisions across ADNOC Onshore's fields, and this Abu Dhabi position builds, history matches and runs them. Black oil and compositional models both come into play, including EOS modelling and calibration and the conversion of black oil models to compositional. Geoscientists are close partners on reservoir characterisation and upscaling, and model consistency with the geological model is checked carefully. Results feed field development planning, short and long-term profiles, and practical operational guidelines. IOR and EOR schemes such as water injection, immiscible and miscible gas injection, and surfactant and polymer injection are designed with the Technical Centre. Special studies cover well spacing, infill wells, advanced wells and pilots. Reserves are estimated through probabilistic and deterministic methods, including Mbal, DCA and simulation sensitivities, backed by uncertainty, risk and economic analysis. Contractor studies also come to you for review, along with RCA, SCAL and PVT work and the reservoir monitoring programme. At least 6 to 8 years in reservoir engineering with Full Field simulation experience is required.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Build Full Field simulation models, history match them and use them for predictions
- Update and generate black oil and compositional models for field development planning and production profiles
- Work with geoscientists on reservoir characterisation and upscaling
- Check simulation models and history match scenarios for consistency with geological model characteristics
- Characterise reservoir fluids, calibrate EOS models and convert black oil models to compositional
- Diagnose model convergence and run-time problems
- Design IOR/EOR methods with the Technical Centre, including water injection, gas injection and surfactant and polymer injection
- Estimate reserves using probabilistic and deterministic methods such as Mbal, DCA and simulation sensitivities
- Run special studies on well spacing, infill wells, advanced wells and pilots
- Integrate pressure and production test results and relative permeability data into simulation and management decisions
- Design, follow up and analyse RCA, SCAL and PVT studies
- Contribute to a cost-effective reservoir monitoring and data gathering programme
- Review contractor study findings and act on their recommendations
- Recalibrate models using monthly production and injection data
- Train and develop assigned staff and provide inputs to section budgets and MIS reports
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Reservoir, Petroleum or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- Bring 6 to 8 years of reservoir engineering experience, including field development management and Full Field simulation studies
- Use numerical reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse and Intersect
- Apply analytical reservoir characterisation methods, including material balance
- Demonstrate knowledge of pressure transient analysis, well performance and PVT modelling
- Understand reservoir and production operations
- Follow ADNOC Onshore HSE requirements, including Stop Work Authority
