Job description
Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Financial Control & Reporting Head oversees day-to-day accounting operations (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting) and develops accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The role prepares and analyzes financial statements for the group and subsidiaries, performs variance analyses for decision-making and strategic planning, ensures compliance through coordination with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulators, and continuously monitors and strengthens internal financial controls to safeguard assets. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring the accounting team, providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management, establishing and updating risk management procedures, directing the provision of financial data to capitalize on opportunities, aligning divisional KPIs with corporate KPIs, defining accounting operational strategies (critical measurements, systems design, resource allocation, problem resolution, and change implementation), directing execution of accounting activities to meet standards and improve operational efficiency, automating accounting operations to achieve month-end close targets, communicating with department officers regarding account movements and variances, preparing press releases and financial statements while maintaining reporting schedules and deadlines, and engaging internal and external auditors on audits, verifications, systems, reports, statements, schedules, and reconciliations. Key accountabilities span directing departmental projects to completion within guidelines and quality standards, ensuring effective budget utilization and accurate progress reporting, managing and motivating staff with clear objectives and regular feedback, maintaining top-down and bottom-up communication with the Executive Team, enforcing confidentiality and information security procedures, and leading the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and processes to achieve operational excellence.

- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
- Prepare and analyze group and subsidiary financial statements and perform variance analysis to support strategy and planning
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations; coordinate with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulators
- Monitor and strengthen internal financial controls to safeguard assets and improve efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team with clear objectives, feedback, and professional development
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management to inform business decisions
- Establish and update financial risk management procedures and mitigate identified risks
- Direct the provision of financial data to capitalize on opportunities and align divisional KPIs with corporate KPIs
- Define and execute accounting operational strategies including measurements, systems design, resource allocation, and change implementation
- Direct and monitor execution of accounting activities to meet standards and enhance operational efficiency
- Automate accounting operations and achieve timely month-end close
- Communicate with department officers to explain account movements and obtain approvals for variances

- Coordinate with internal and external auditors on audits, verifications, systems, reports, statements, schedules, and reconciliations

- Maintain clear top-down and bottom-up communication between staff and the Executive Team

Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting (required)
- Professional certification such as SOCPA/CPA or equivalent preferred; Master’s Degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in financial accounting with at least 5 years in progressively senior managerial roles
- Proven experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and variance analysis
- Demonstrated ability to develop policies, procedures, and internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance
- Track record of leading and mentoring accounting teams and managing departmental projects and budgets
- Experience coordinating with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies
- Capability to automate accounting operations and achieve timely month-end close
- Strong communication skills with ability to provide executive-level insights and maintain cross-department communication
- Adherence to confidentiality, risk, and information security procedures with proficiency in computerized accounting/ERP systems
