Job description
The Head of Construction - Airport Projects is responsible for organizing the on-site project team, ensuring responsibility for HSE, site supervision, and document control procedures. The role requires proactive engagement in working and safety practices and involves establishing productive relationships with stakeholders and construction teams. The position mandates familiarity with contractual dispute resolution and the ability to provide guidance on staff performance and issues. The individual will be accountable for quality assurance via inspection procedures, supporting the project team on technical issues including constructability, procurement, and shop drawings. Close coordination with the contractor to track progress and mitigate program issues, regular liaison with project controls on cost and schedule, and effective communication with clients and stakeholders are key responsibilities. Knowledge of FIDIC Yellow and Red Books and prior consultancy experience in a PMCM setting are essential. The role also requires strict adherence to internal and external Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health policies, and includes advising clients on contract duration and value impacts.

- Assist with review and analysis of all claims submitted by the contractor
- Adopt a proactive approach to working practices and safety compliance
- Establish effective working relationships with stakeholders and construction teams
- Approach contractual disputes with fairness and provide appropriate resolutions
- Recognize and appreciate individual staff contributions
- Offer guidance to improve individual staff performance
- Support resolution of staff-related issues
- Implement inspection procedures to ensure work quality
- Provide technical assistance regarding constructability, procurement, and shop drawings
- Monitor and report on work progress, mitigating against delays with contractors
- Maintain contact with project controls team for updates on cost and schedule
- Communicate project impacts on contract duration and value to clients and stakeholders
- Advise clients on contractual matters and suggest dispute resolution methods
- Coordinate interfaces between contractors on and adjacent to the site
- Ensure adherence to Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 15ā20 years of experience in large-scale, fast-track development projects
- Experience in airport projects in the GCC is preferred
- Proven leadership and commitment to goal achievement
- Familiarity with contractual matters and knowledge of FIDIC Yellow and Red Books
- Previous consultancy experience in PMCM environments
- Record of implementing site improvements and talent development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- International work experience preferred, especially in Saudi Arabia
