Job description
CDU BU seeks an experienced Geotechnical Manager to oversee complex subsurface engineering on a major metro project in Riyadh. The role focuses on geotechnical supervision for metro stations, viaducts, tunneling (TBM and cut-and-cover), deep foundations, and risk mitigation during excavation and construction phases.

Key responsibilities
- Lead site investigations including boreholes, CPTs, geophysical studies, and lab analyses
- Analyze geotechnical data to design safe and cost-effective foundation systems
- Advise on TBM operations, tunneling methods, and deep excavation stability
- Review and validate geotechnical designs, reports, and method statements
- Coordinate with structural and civil teams to incorporate geotechnical parameters
- Monitor ground movements during construction and propose mitigation strategies
- Assist in contractor and consultant performance oversight on geotechnical deliverables
- Ensure adherence to local/international standards like Eurocode, BS, ASTM
- Support design of ground improvement solutions where required
- Interface with stakeholders including contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās or Masterās in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
- 5ā10 years in geotechnical supervision, ideally in metro or infrastructure projects
- Advanced knowledge of pile design, tunnel behavior, and excavation support
- Proficiency in tools like PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Settle3
- Familiar with groundwater management, soil behavior, and settlement risk
- Strong report writing and analytical skills
- Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus)
- Preferred: Chartered Engineer (CEng/PE), site safety certifications
