Manager - International Taxation role within QNB (Qatar) Finance Division / Financial Services Department in Doha, assuming prime responsibility for coordinating taxation issues within the Group, including deduction of Withholding Tax (WHT) on payments subject to WHT, analyzing and ensuring timely submission of tax returns, and coordinating tax payments to local tax authorities. Supports ongoing tax provision requirements for local and international operations in coordination with Specialist International taxation and ensures reasonableness of tax charge; performs regular review to ensure compliance with WHT and other tax requirements and tax payment obligations; assists ongoing taxation processes and reviews opportunities for legitimate tax planning across the Group; demonstrates understanding of factors behind financial and non-financial performance and promotes cost consciousness, efficiency, productivity, waste avoidance and benefit optimization while acting within delegated authority and adhering to QNB policies. Coordinates with divisions/departments to ensure tax compliance, records explanations for deviations with escalations as required, and assesses assessment status of tax return submissions; builds relationships with related departments/units to achieve Group tax goals; liaises with Group IT to resolve taxation reporting needs and system enhancement dependencies; assists internal/external customers with queries on division products/tasks; maintains activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to improve turnaround time; provides timely and accurate information to external and internal auditors, Compliance, Tax Authorities, and Risk Functions when required. Provides professional taxation service support contributing to strategic objectives; assists delivering taxation strategy and tax advice clearly and timely; applies withholding tax expertise and accurate WHT deduction; identifies tax risks and designs mitigating actions to limit liability across operations; assists coordination of taxation due diligence activities across QNB Group; prepares and submits bank tax returns; develops/enhances/maintains taxation matrix summary listing tax requirements across jurisdictions and circulates as required; ensures adherence to taxation policies and procedures; liaises with departments and IT to resolve inaccuracies in outputs/systems. Maintains knowledge of taxation laws, pertinent regulations and best practices; undertakes self-development and remains current. Complies with legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including QNB Compliance manual and Group Compliance policies and procedures covering Anti Money Laundering & Counter Terrorist Financing, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy; contributes to and complies with Bank Risk Framework considering Risk Appetite and promoting positive Risk Culture; performs role under Three Lines of Defence to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report risks; supports Conduct Risk policy outcomes; supports RCSA, KRI, incident reporting and remediation aligned to Operational Risk Management requirements; completes mandatory training and seminars. Ensures high standards of data protection and confidentiality safeguarding commercially sensitive information and maintains confidentiality of customer and internal bank information with need-to-know sharing to Senior Management, Audit/Compliance functions and relevant Regulators; maintains high professional standards and completes ad hoc duties as requested. Education/experience requirements include university graduate bachelorâs degree preferably majoring in Finance, Banking, Economics, Mathematics or Accountancy; professional certification such as CPA or CA and Taxation Certificate is a plus; preferred minimum 3 yearsâ experience in a professional accounting firm/tax consultancy or major bank with exposure to taxation function; English report writing and communication, with Arabic or French desirable.

- Build and maintain effective relationships with related departments and units to achieve Group tax goals and objectives
- Liaise with Group IT to resolve taxation reporting needs and address system enhancement dependencies and observed inaccuracies in outputs and systems
- Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments and units to improve turnaround time
- Provide timely and accurate information to external and internal auditors, Compliance, Tax Authorities, and Risk Functions as required
- Provide professional taxation service support contributing to Group strategic objectives and assist in delivering taxation strategy and clear timely tax advice
- Deduct WHT accurately from payments where applicable and apply withholding tax expertise
- Identify tax risks and design mitigating actions to limit liability across all operations
- Assist in coordination of taxation due diligence activities across QNB Group
- Prepare and submit the bankâs tax returns and analyze requirements for timely filing and payment
- Develop, enhance and maintain the taxation matrix summary listing tax requirements in operating jurisdictions and circulate as required
- Ensure adherence to taxation policies and procedures and act within delegated authority while adhering to QNB policies
- Comply with legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements including AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistle blowing, conflict of interest and insider dealing policies and perform Three Lines of Defence risk responsibilities including RCSA, KRI, incident reporting and remediation support
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelorâs degree as a university graduate preferably majoring in Finance, Banking, Economics, Mathematics, or Accountancy
- Have preferred minimum of 3 yearsâ experience in a professional accounting firm/tax consultancy or major bank with exposure in the taxation function
- Have professional certification such as CPA or CA with a Taxation Certificate as a plus
- Be able to coordinate Group taxation issues including Withholding Tax (WHT) deduction, tax return preparation and submission, and tax payments to local tax authorities
- Maintain good knowledge of taxation laws, pertinent regulations, and best practices and be able to deliver taxation strategy support and tax advice in a clear and timely manner
- Be able to identify tax risks and design mitigating actions and support taxation due diligence across Group operations and jurisdictions
- Be able to develop and maintain a taxation matrix summary covering tax requirements across jurisdictions and ensure adherence to taxation policies and procedures
- Be able to support taxation reporting needs through liaison with IT and resolve inaccuracies in outputs/systems and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for turnaround time
- Be able to provide timely and accurate information to internal/external auditors, Compliance, Tax Authorities and Risk functions and comply with QNB compliance manual and Group Compliance policies including AML/CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistle blowing, conflict of interest and insider dealing
- Have good oral and written communication skills in English including report writing with Arabic or French desirable
