Job description
Loan losses stay minimized and return on assets and shareholder's equity get maximized through this Vice President, Credit Management role, built around a sound and well-managed loan portfolio. You recommend sound credit facilities only after a thorough evaluation of each borrower's creditworthiness and debt payment capacity. A credit culture gets developed and spread across the branch through training, counselling and advising, with action plans recommended wherever weaknesses show up. Credit policies and procedures get reviewed periodically, with changes recommended and implemented where appropriate. Branch Managers and Team Leaders get support in structuring credit lines that meet client business needs within acceptable risk criteria. Portfolio quality gets tracked through classified outstandings and loan loss provisions, both of which carry a direct impact on branch profitability. You watch for early warning signals to enable timely corrective action, keep turnaround time on target, and work to minimize the percentage of proposals returned or rejected by Head Office. Relationship Managers and Team Leaders get accompanied on client calls where needed, keeping awareness of market and business conditions current.
