Job description
In this role you will provide expert advice to Subsurface and Drilling Teams at ADNOC Onshore in the areas of technology, technical challenges, practices, and knowledge sharing. You will maintain contacts with shareholders and industry on the latest advances in geophysics, exploration processes, reservoir characterization and evaluation, static reservoir modeling, advanced integration of seismic interpretation results, software, and hardware. You are responsible for providing asset teams with expert advice and consultation on technical studies and activities that directly impact the Company's Full Field Development Plans. Your responsibilities include advising on technologies and practices related to geophysics and promoting their application and effective integration with other disciplines. You will provide assurance to leadership and shareholders that project studies are conducted per Company standards and that uncertainties relative to seismic are properly evaluated. You are responsible for providing expert advice on major geophysical activities, reservoir development, reservoir management, and seismic reservoir characterization studies leading to 3D geological models of the hydrocarbon resource. In this role you will apply technology related to geophysics for reservoir monitoring and management purposes, including 4D, borehole seismic monitoring, and cross-well monitoring. You will conduct regional seismic interpretation work and exploration or appraisal strategy with integration of well data, geological data, and geo-mechanical studies to advise on reservoir management implications, and you will use sequence stratigraphy for seismic interpretation to constrain static model frameworks and integrate seismic attributes into the modeling process.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Maintain contacts with shareholders and industry on latest advances in geophysics, exploration processes, reservoir characterization and evaluation, static reservoir modeling, advanced integration of seismic interpretation results, software, and hardware
- Provide asset teams with expert advice and consultation in technical related studies and activities that directly impact the Company's Full Field Development Plans
- Provide advice on technologies and practices related to geophysics and promote their application and effective integration with other disciplines
- Provide assurance to Leadership and Shareholders that project studies are conducted per Company Standards and that uncertainties relative to seismic are properly evaluated
- Provide expert advice on major geophysical activities, reservoir development, reservoir management, and seismic reservoir characterization studies leading to 3D geological models of the hydrocarbon resource
- Apply technology related to geophysics for reservoir monitoring/management purposes, including 4D, borehole seismic monitoring, and cross-well monitoring
- Conduct regional seismic interpretation work and exploration/appraisal strategy with integration of well data, geological data, and geo-mechanical studies to advise on reservoir management implications
- Use sequence stratigraphy for seismic interpretation to constrain static model frameworks and integrate seismic attributes into the modeling process
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geophysics or Geology, reflecting the deep technical foundation needed to advise across the breadth of geophysical disciplines this role touches
- Bring 15 years of varied experience in Oil and Gas, reflecting the seniority expected of a specialist consulted extensively by both asset teams and leadership on technical matters
- Have at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, since the position carries direct and indirect reports as noted in the organisation chart
- Show preference for experience gained in an operational environment, reflecting the practical, applied nature of the advice this role is expected to provide to Subsurface and Drilling teams
- Demonstrate breadth and depth of technical knowledge across geophysics, exploration processes, reservoir characterization, and static reservoir modeling, since the role explicitly requires advising across all of these areas
- Show experience with advanced seismic interpretation techniques and their integration into 3D geological models, given the role's direct responsibility for these deliverables
- Demonstrate familiarity with reservoir monitoring technologies such as 4D seismic, borehole seismic monitoring, and cross-well monitoring, since these are specifically named technologies this role must apply
- Show experience integrating well data, geological data, and geo-mechanical studies into seismic interpretation work, reflecting the cross-disciplinary nature of the regional interpretation work this role covers
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, since the role requires maintaining contacts with shareholders and industry as well as advising and building trust with technical asset teams
- Show the ability to provide assurance-level oversight, verifying that project studies meet Company standards and that seismic-related uncertainties are properly evaluated, reflecting the quality and governance dimension of this specialist role
- Demonstrate awareness of financial and organisational accountability, given the role's stated responsibility for revenues/budget as per the approved financial budget and for both direct and indirect reports per the organisation chart
