Job description
The Senior Manager – Line Maintenance is responsible for overseeing DXB/DWC line maintenance operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft maintenance, supporting flydubai’s flying program while maintaining aircraft availability, reliability, and safety standards. The role encompasses strategic oversight of operational performance, development of maintenance teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing maintenance schedules, monitoring operational KPIs, and maintaining fleet readiness. The incumbent manages budgets, coordinates RMS activities for workforce planning, supports audits, investigates incidents, and ensures personnel adhere to airworthiness limitations and company safety policies. Expertise in CAR 66 B1/B2 licensing, Boeing 737NG and MAX-8 aircraft, and software tools like AMOS, AIMS, and RMS are essential.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee operational strategy and performance standards for line maintenance across DXB/DWC, ensuring alignment with airline operational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, coach, and manage line maintenance teams to ensure regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and high performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with flydubai and regulatory standards, using current maintenance data and implementing process enhancements.
- Maintain aircraft technical dispatch reliability and fleet availability in accordance with operational KPIs.
- Coordinate Resource Management System (RMS) activities to optimize maintenance scheduling, workforce allocation, and real-time operational decision-making.
- Allocate adequate resources, manpower, and operational support for planned and unplanned maintenance, including AOG recovery and flying spanner operations.
- Manage departmental performance and financial accountability, achieving budget targets while maintaining operational efficiency and cost control.
- Promote company safety policies and encourage full participation in the Safety Management System across all personnel.
- Oversee competency assessments and performance monitoring of all employed and contracted staff to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Ensure maintenance facilities, tooling, and ground support equipment remain serviceable, compliant, and capable of supporting operational requirements.
- Monitor personnel adherence to legislative requirements, technical instructions, and company procedures, ensuring standardized line maintenance practices across locations.
- Support internal and external audits, including regulatory audits, and ensure timely follow-up on findings and corrective actions.
- Assist in investigations of safety reports, incidents, and reliability events, ensuring proper documentation and remediation.
- Ensure all maintenance personnel comply with airworthiness limitations and continuous professional development requirements.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Management, or equivalent professional qualification.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in aircraft maintenance management.
- Current CAR 66 B1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (or FAA/ICAO TYPE II equivalent) with ratings on Boeing 737NG (CFM56-7B) and/or MAX-8 (LEAP1-B) engines.
- Proven experience managing 24/7 line maintenance operations with multi-shift teams.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety management systems, and airworthiness standards.
- Experience with AMOS, AIMS, and Resource Management Systems such as Groundstar software (desirable).
- Proven financial and budget management experience in maintenance operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Ability to make strategic operational decisions, demonstrating resilience, flexibility, and problem-solving capability.
- High proficiency in operational KPI monitoring, performance assessment, and audit support.
