Job description
The Data Application Manager (Retail) is responsible for establishing, optimizing, and operationalizing enterprise data management capabilities within Al-Futtaimās Retail division. Operating under the Global Technology & Digital Platform framework, the role bridges retail business requirements with technical execution by delivering scalable data applications, analytics, and reporting solutions. The position manages Azure-based data architectures, integrates data from multiple retail systems into centralized platforms, enforces data governance and security standards, and enables advanced analytics, dashboards, and AI/ML use cases. The role also leads day-to-day Retail Data Operations, mentors a high-performing data team, and ensures data catalog, metadata, and business glossary practices are maintained to drive data-informed decision making across the retail organization.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement data application solutions aligned with retail business objectives
- Translate retail business requirements into technical data and analytics solutions
- Manage design, development, and deployment of data applications using existing platforms and services
- Ensure integration of data from multiple retail systems into centralized data platforms
- Define KPIs and lead development of interactive dashboards for analytics and reporting
- Monitor, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and application performance
- Implement best practices for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency within Azure environments
- Ensure enforcement of data security measures including identity management and role-based access control
- Collaborate with data science teams to support AI and machine learning use cases
- Manage, mentor, and guide data engineers, BI developers, and analysts
- Maintain and operationalize data catalog, business glossary, and metadata management practices
- Oversee day-to-day Retail Data Operations and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Possess 12+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics including implementation, transformation, and support
- Demonstrate strong retail business domain knowledge
- Show proficiency with Azure data platforms, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Python, and PySpark
- Exhibit expertise in data modeling and data design activities
- Demonstrate experience with SAP solutions including S/4HANA, SAP BW, and SAP BO
- Show proficiency in analytics and visualization tools including Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx
- Exhibit strong stakeholder engagement, analytical, and problem-solving skills
