Job description
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and executing engineering projects primarily within the refining and petrochemical sectors. The role includes full lifecycle management of projectsāfrom planning, scheduling, and procurement to execution, commissioning, and close-out. This position demands in-depth coordination with various departments, including maintenance, inspection, engineering support, safety, and industrial security. The engineer will also monitor budget and schedule compliance, report progress to management, and coach junior staff. This is a senior-level role requiring hands-on site control, cost awareness, and a strong commitment to safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities
- Responsible for all scheduling activities on the project and identifying overall critical path.
- Administer projects from planning through execution and commissioning.
- Coordinate with all necessary departments and procure required contracts and materials.
- Liaise with MFT, Inspection, Maintenance, Engineering Support, Industrial Security, and Safety departments.
- Assist in project screening to optimize resource usage and prioritize planning activities.
- Decide on execution method (in-house vs contractor) at early project stages.
- Monitor and track project budgets and expenses.
- Review and approve project invoices and assess cost compatibility with schedule.
- Report project progress and spending quarterly in coordination with corporate planning.
- Participate in meetings with proponents and resolve related project issues.
- Provide coaching and supervision to junior engineers for skills development.
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 12 years' experience in refining and/or petrochemical industry project execution.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from a reputable university.
- Experience working on multi-discipline projects with comprehensive knowledge of execution needs.
- Knowledge of safety and construction standards in hydrocarbon plants.
- Experience in construction site control and project execution management.
- Strong planning and budget control skills.
- Analytical, results-oriented, and conceptualization capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in computer and project management tools.
