Job description
As a Finance Specialist within the Middle East Office (MEO) Controllership team, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing monthly, quarterly, and yearly finance activities, including detailed financial analyses, reporting, reconciliations, accounting policy compliance, and external statutory compliance. The position involves coordinating internal audits, assisting with external audit requests, and managing ad-hoc analyses and special projects initiated by the Office Finance Director and the Controllership team. The role requires researching technical accounting matters to support continuous improvement of office-level and firm-wide accounting policies, as well as leading initiatives aimed at enhancing audit procedures, localization efforts, and finance process flows. By incorporating design thinking and a continuous improvement mindset, the Finance Specialist drives change in finance processes and operations through leading selected projects and initiatives. Acting as a thought partner, the role presents analyses and reports to office and functional leadership to actively influence decision-making. A core responsibility is ensuring compliance with firm policies and statutory guidelines and laws, while collaborating closely with the Finance Transformation team and the Global Finance Operations team to simplify and improve end-to-end finance workflows and processes. The role is based in the Middle East, specifically Riyadh, reports into the MEO Director of Finance, and provides on-the-ground leadership for Finance team members in the office, including leading a team of (Senior) Analysts.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close activities including analyses, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, US GAAP requirements, and external statutory guidelines and laws
- Coordinate internal audits and support external audit requests by providing required documentation and analyses
- Conduct technical accounting research to support continuous improvement of office and firm accounting policies
- Lead initiatives to enhance audit procedures, localization efforts, and finance process flows
- Drive finance process and operational improvements by leading projects using design thinking and continuous improvement principles
- Prepare and present financial analyses and reports to office and functional leadership to influence decision-making
- Collaborate with Finance Transformation and Global Finance Operations teams to simplify end-to-end finance workflows
- Provide on-the-ground leadership to Finance team members in the office and lead a team of (Senior) Analysts
- Manage ad-hoc analyses and special projects as directed by the Office Finance Director and Controllership team
Experience & skills
- Hold a university degree in finance or accounting, with CPA or MBA preferred
- Bring at least 7+ years of accounting or finance experience in a multinational environment
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of US GAAP with IFRS experience considered a plus
- Exhibit strong proficiency in MS Office and working knowledge of SAP
- Apply broad finance knowledge including controllership and finance function leadership experience
- Show understanding of basic tax requirements and local content regulations
- Apply solid general accounting knowledge with the ability to perform technical accounting research
- Manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
- Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in financial analysis and decision support
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with Arabic language skills considered a plus
