Job description
RAKBANK is seeking a Senior Vice President & Head of Commercial Banking - Assets to lead its commercial banking division across the UAE. This senior executive role carries full P&L accountability and is responsible for driving strategic growth, managing client relationships, and delivering customized financial solutions to mid-sized and small corporate clients. Reporting directly to the EVP and Head of Business Banking ā Assets, the role oversees client acquisition, portfolio management, and risk governance, ensuring that all activities align with the bankās broader strategic objectives. The Head of Commercial Banking will develop and execute strategies to expand market share across trade, working capital, and real estate financing segments while ensuring prudent credit risk management and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include setting clear business targets, mentoring relationship managers and analysts, fostering a client-centric culture, and implementing digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The incumbent will also monitor portfolio health, oversee credit renewals, drive cross-sell strategies, and represent the division in strategic committees and forums. This role requires exceptional financial acumen, deep knowledge of UAEās banking and regulatory environment, and a proven ability to deliver sustained growth within a competitive commercial banking landscape. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10ā12 years of experience in corporate or SME banking, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles, demonstrating strong strategic thinking, credit expertise, and people leadership skills.

- Develop and execute strategic growth plans for the commercial banking assets division, aligning with the bankās overall business objectives
- Identify, target, and onboard new clients across trade, working capital, and real estate financing segments
- Oversee client engagement plans to grow wallet share and drive cross-selling of financial products and services
- Build and maintain market intelligence to identify emerging opportunities and monitor competitive positioning
- Lead, mentor, and develop relationship managers and analysts to foster a high-performance culture
- Set key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure achievement of business and financial targets
- Manage portfolio health, renewals, and proactive risk mitigation measures
- Collaborate with credit risk and compliance teams to uphold governance and regulatory standards
- Monitor asset quality and ensure adherence to defined risk parameters
- Act as primary liaison between clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners
- Represent the commercial banking unit in strategic forums, product committees, and senior management reviews
- Provide market insights and data-driven recommendations for executive decision-making
- Streamline client onboarding, credit analysis, and portfolio management processes for improved efficiency
- Drive digital transformation and innovation initiatives within commercial banking operations
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and client-centricity across the division
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required; Masterās preferred
- 10ā12 years of progressive banking experience in corporate or SME banking with a top-tier UAE financial institution
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large teams and business portfolios
- Proven experience in P&L management and delivering strategic business growth
- Strong understanding of credit structuring, asset quality, and regulatory frameworks governing UAE banking
- Advanced skills in commercial banking strategy, risk management, and financial analysis
- Track record of managing client portfolios across trade, working capital, and real estate segments
- Experience collaborating with risk, compliance, and credit functions to maintain governance standards
- Proficiency in digital transformation and process improvement within commercial banking
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with ability to drive change and innovation
