The economist designs evaluation frameworks by selecting indicators, methodologies, and data collection approaches to measure economic outcomes and policy effectiveness. Responsibilities include conducting rigorous impact evaluations using experimental and quasi-experimental methods, performing advanced quantitative analysis including regression analysis, instrumental variables, propensity score matching, and difference-in-differences, and managing large datasets with high data quality standards. The role involves conducting cost-benefit analysis to assess economic efficiency, evaluating socioeconomic impacts such as employment, income distribution, poverty alleviation, and welfare outcomes, and translating findings into actionable policy recommendations for governments and stakeholders. The position also includes writing policy briefs, research papers, and thought leadership content, engaging stakeholders for data access and implementation, building capacity among partners in evaluation methodologies, and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration across consulting, policy, and research teams.
