Security Engineer
by Fuse Energy in Energy (Oil, Gas & Renewables)
Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy startup focused on delivering a terawatt of renewable energy by combining first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to build a radically improved energy system. The company operates as a fully integrated energy organization encompassing solar, wind, and hydrogen project development, real-time power trading, and distributed energy installations, while also building a decentralized Energy Network of smart devices that rewards users with Energy Dollars for electrifying homes, shifting usage to off-peak hours, and balancing the grid to strengthen grid stability for AI data centers and other energy-intensive industries. The Security Engineer role is designed to support and strengthen Fuse Energy’s security posture as the company scales, working closely with senior security and engineering team members to secure cloud infrastructure, web applications, internal systems, and sensitive data. The role involves hands-on security engineering and implementation, including implementing and maintaining security controls, supporting secure configuration of services such as access controls, secrets management, and API security, and reviewing security for identity, authentication, authorization, and transaction workflows. The position requires active participation in threat modelling exercises and security reviews for new features and system changes, identification of common security risks, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities, and collaboration with engineers to remediate them, while staying informed on common attack vectors in modern cloud and web environments. The Security Engineer also supports security operations by assisting with monitoring, detection, and investigation of security alerts and events, supporting incident response activities including analysis, documentation, and remediation follow-ups, and maintaining and improving runbooks, alerts, and detection mechanisms. Additionally, the role contributes to secure development practices through security-focused code reviews, documentation and promotion of security guidelines such as secure coding and secrets handling, and support for compliance readiness activities including evidence gathering and control checks. Collaboration with engineering and product teams is integral to embedding security into daily development workflows, while continuously learning from senior security engineers and developing expertise in cloud security, application security, and infrastructure security within a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
