The Lead Engineer – Fleet Management is a senior technical engineering position within Baker Hughes' Regional Product Service Engineering organization and is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability, availability, integrity, and lifecycle performance of centrifugal compressors and associated rotating equipment across the global energy sector. The role forms part of the Product Service Engineering team that supports Heavy-Duty Gas Turbines, Aero Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Steam Turbines, Control Systems, Protection Systems, and Accessory Systems. The position focuses on providing advanced technical solutions, engineering assessments, root cause investigations, fleet reliability support, customer engagement, outage support, and engineering leadership for centrifugal compressors, dry gas seals, oil seals, antisurge systems, and associated auxiliary equipment. The Lead Engineer is responsible for maintaining Baker Hughes product integrity by proactively identifying customer technical issues, evaluating fleet performance, investigating equipment anomalies, performing engineering assessments at component and system levels, and delivering technically sound solutions that improve reliability, availability, operational performance, and customer satisfaction. The role acts as a critical technical interface between customers, field services teams, contractual services teams, product service engineering, system engineering, design engineering organizations, and suppliers. Responsibilities include responding to internal and external customer requests for technical issue resolution using sound engineering principles, technical expertise, established standards, procedures, best practices, and analytical methodologies. The position leads and program-manages Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations, technical assessments, fleet reliability studies, corrective action programs, and engineering problem-solving activities for product-related technical issues. The role provides technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams involved in resolving customer challenges and fleet performance issues. The incumbent develops and delivers technical presentations for Baker Hughes leadership teams and customers, ensuring effective communication of technical findings, recommendations, risk assessments, corrective actions, and engineering solutions. Customer-facing responsibilities include supporting technical review meetings, presenting engineering recommendations, managing customer escalations, and reinforcing Baker Hughes' commitment to technical excellence and customer success. The role requires travel to customer sites globally to support technical reviews, planned outages, unplanned outages, forced outages, commissioning support, maintenance activities, reliability improvement programs, and availability enhancement initiatives. The Lead Engineer provides technical oversight and engineering governance to Contractual Services and Field Services teams during planned maintenance outages and operational interventions to ensure successful execution and achievement of reliability and availability objectives. The position collaborates closely with Design Engineering teams and both internal and external suppliers to facilitate implementation of Fleet Program technical solutions, engineering modifications, reliability upgrades, corrective actions, and operational improvements. The role requires extensive expertise in design engineering, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, performance analysis, and reliability engineering associated with centrifugal compressors, dry gas seals, oil seals, antisurge systems, rotating equipment, and related auxiliary systems. The incumbent must demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, matrix leadership experience, customer-facing technical support expertise, decision-making ability, engineering judgment, and the capacity to lead technical activities in high-pressure operational environments. The position supports energy and industrial customers globally and contributes directly to maintaining equipment reliability, operational continuity, fleet performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term asset integrity. The role requires frequent collaboration within a global matrix organization and involves supporting both technical and commercial activities, including proposal development, service offerings, sales support, and engineering consultation. The position requires availability for emergency technical support, including weekend support activities, and travel commitments of approximately 20–25% to customer locations worldwide.
