Shift Senior Electrical Technician
by EmSteel in Manufacturing & Industrial Production
The Shift Senior Electrical Technician (Steel Melting and Billet Casting Plant) is responsible for executing electrical maintenance activities within the Steel Melting Plant during day shifts to ensure plant equipment operates efficiently and safely while maximizing plant utilization at minimum operational cost. The role focuses on electrical corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, equipment calibration, and major repair of processing equipment and facilities in compliance with Emirates Steel Nuclear QS Program requirements and the ESI Integrated Management System procedures and guidelines. The technician works closely with technical and production disciplines as a team member while following safety rules and regulations, job risk assessment protocols, electrical maintenance work inspection reports, and work order procedures. The role includes using condition monitoring techniques to prevent equipment failures and diagnose complex equipment faults across high-automation steel production environments including steel melting and billet casting processes. Core responsibilities include maintenance and servicing of electrical processing equipment such as medium voltage substations, transformers, switchgears, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial drives, and electric motors that support automated steel manufacturing systems. The technician analyzes previous shift activities with supervisors to perform fault analysis and line stoppage evaluation, enabling development of action plans that improve maintenance service performance and reduce downtime. The role requires maintaining accurate job inputting into computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably SAP CMMS, ensuring electrical maintenance job details, performance trends, and service records are accurately captured. The technician assists in spare parts management processes, contributes to annual budgeting preparation through maintenance data reporting, and collaborates with production personnel to coordinate machine shutdown schedules and maintenance planning. Additional responsibilities include supervising and guiding team members, assisting with training of new employees and UAE national trainees as part of the National Development Program, supporting plant cleanliness programs, and assisting in planning and implementation of plant expansions and improvements. The role requires familiarity with office computer software including word processing and email applications, strong knowledge of automation systems used in steel melting and billet casting operations, and experience working within health, safety, and environmental compliance systems in industrial manufacturing environments.
