Production Planning & Control (PPC) Manager
by Caliberly in Manufacturing & Industrial Production
The Production Planning & Control (PPC) Manager will oversee production planning, scheduling, inventory control and manufacturing coordination within a perfume manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Finance Director and working within the Production department, the role is responsible for ensuring efficient utilisation of production resources, timely manufacturing and order fulfilment, optimal inventory levels and effective coordination across Production, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality, Sales and other relevant functions. The successful candidate will bring strong production planning, MRP, inventory management and ERP expertise, with the ability to optimise capacity, improve manufacturing efficiency and support continuous cost and process improvements. Responsibilities cover developing daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on sales forecasts, customer demand and inventory requirements; translating demand forecasts into practical production schedules and manufacturing priorities; monitoring production schedules to ensure timely order fulfilment; balancing production capacity, material availability, manpower and machine utilisation; identifying potential production constraints and implementing corrective actions; coordinating closely with Sales, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality Assurance and Production teams; aligning production plans with customer requirements, sales priorities and inventory targets; ensuring timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials with Procurement; maintaining smooth material flow into and out of production with Warehouse teams; and supporting new product launches with R&D, Marketing and other relevant teams. The role manages Material Requirements Planning (MRP), monitors raw materials, packaging materials, semi-finished goods and finished-product inventories, prevents production disruptions caused by material shortages, minimises excess inventory, establishes inventory planning parameters based on demand, lead times and production requirements, and identifies slow-moving, excess and potentially obsolete inventory. Capacity and resource planning includes optimising machine utilisation and production capacity, planning manpower allocation, identifying bottlenecks and capacity constraints across manufacturing operations, developing capacity plans for current and future production requirements, and recommending resource or process changes to improve manufacturing throughput. Production performance responsibilities include monitoring manufacturing KPIs such as production output, downtime, waste, efficiency and schedule adherence; analysing production performance and identifying root causes of inefficiencies; preparing regular production performance reports; tracking production plan versus actual output; implementing corrective actions; and developing actionable insights to improve productivity, efficiency and resource utilisation. The role identifies and implements initiatives to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs, drives reduction of production waste, downtime and avoidable resource consumption, supports Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, reviews production processes, recommends improvements in workflow, capacity utilisation and resource allocation, and works with relevant teams to improve overall manufacturing productivity. Quality, safety and compliance responsibilities include ensuring production planning and execution are aligned with applicable quality and safety standards, coordinating with Quality Assurance to address production-related quality issues, ensuring production processes and schedules support consistent product quality, and escalating operational risks that may affect quality, safety, delivery or customer commitments. ERP responsibilities include managing production planning activities through ERP systems, ensuring accurate production data, material requirements, inventory information and production schedules within the ERP, using ERP data to support production planning, capacity management and inventory decisions, and contributing to improvements in ERP-based planning and reporting processes. Reporting and management information responsibilities include preparing production plans and schedules for relevant stakeholders, developing production and inventory planning reports, providing management with visibility into production capacity, material availability, inventory levels and potential delivery risks, maintaining accurate planning data and ensuring timely escalation of production constraints. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline and 5–8 years of experience in production planning and control. Experience within perfume, cosmetics, FMCG, pharmaceutical or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred, UAE experience is preferred, and proven experience managing production schedules, MRP, inventory and manufacturing coordination is required.
